| (1) Frozen or sluggish pulley. |
a. Defective bearing. |
a. Replace with new bearing. |

Remove pulley and replace shaft. Carefully inspect for damage to bearings
and replace as required. |
| (2) Excessive noise |
a. Belt slipping on pulley
face. |

REACH UNDER OR INTO UNIT.] Adjust tension at takeup device. |

b. Loose mounting. |
b. Tighten mounting. Check level and alignment
of pulley shaft or belt will not track properly. |
| |
c. Bearing not adequately lubricated.

c. If bearing is excessively worn, replace
with new bearing. Check fit of inner race to ensure against bearing distortion.
Check level and alignment at pulley shaft. Check shaft for straightness.

d. Bent shaft. from pulley. |
d. Remove pulley to replace shaft. Inspect
bearings for damage and replace as necessary. |
| |
e. Loose bearing mount. |
e. Tighten bearing lock mounting bolts.
Check level and alignment of pulley shaft. |
| (3) Excessive wear to belt or pulley face.

a. Belt tension too low-belt slips on
pulley causing wear. |
a. Adjust takeup tension until slippage
ceases. |

b. Gritty material ground between belt
and pulley. |
b. Clean pulley face and pulley side of
belt by brushing and wiping. Guard against spillage between belt and pulley.

c. Splicing fasteners protruding. |
c. Tighten or replace fasteners as necessary.

d. Oil or grease on lagging. |
d. Remove oil or grease. If lagging has
deteriorated, replace pulley. |
